Since joining Magnetic Marketing in 2016, Tyler doubled his practice, growing it to seven-figures. He found more time and location freedom too. For example, he utilizes teledentistry and 80% of what needs to get done can be handled by his team. If he hits his weekly goal early, he doesn’t worry about taking Friday off. “There’s nothing to sweat because we hit our numbers. Anything else is gravy,” Tyler said. “It goes back to what Dan teaches us--that profit and income are not directly related to time.”
Only Work With People Who Are A Good Fit. There are approximately 1,100 dentists practicing in the vicinity of Tyler’s dental practice located in a suburb of Salt Lake City. Tyler primarily works with patients who fit his ideal patient avatar: an adult who requires comprehensive dental care such as replacing old dental work, straitening teeth, or implants. His patients come from Northern Utah as well as from surrounding states including Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada, and as far away as Anchorage, Alaska.
“Magnetic Marketing opened my eyes to the fact that for years, we catered our practice to the worst type of patients,” Tyler said. “The ones who always complain about how much everything costs, cancel, or ‘no show’ or you have to see him a hundred times for follow-up. They fuss about everything that the good patients don’t typically fuss about. Magnetic Marketing made it so much easier. Now we don’t even hesitate for a second if someone’s not a good fit, we quickly give them the option to be referred.”
“The quote I’ve always loved from Dan is ’You don’t get a customer to make a sale. You make a sale to get a customer.’ My version of that is you don’t get patients to do dentistry. You do dentistry to build relationships with patients.”
